About BETTER TOGETHER Grants

The Weston Village Residents’ Association is excited to announce the launch of our Better Together Grants for 2025!  This program taps the generosity and talents of our neighbours in fostering an inclusive and vibrant Weston for everyone.

As a not-for-profit run entirely by volunteers, our grant funds stem from the amazing efforts of neighbours who organized community events in Weston. We’re eager to reinvest this money back into our community, nurturing a cycle of support where we uplift each other to create something special.

We invite you to get involved!  Grants will range from $50 to $300, and we can’t wait to hear your unique ideas and passion shine through. With a limited number available, we encourage you to be creative and let your imagination soar.

Some people are attracted to big events; others prefer more intimate settings.  Some like to be entertained, and others are drawn to acquiring a new skill or having meaningful conversations.  So, there's no 'one right way' to unite people.  Propose what YOU feel would work well for your audience.

What to Know
Criteria and tips to help you write a great application...

  • Criteria for Grant:

    • The organizer must live in Weston, and the event must be in Weston.

    • Free – The event must be free to all participants

    • Non-affiliated with organizations such as profit or not-for-profits, charities, sports, religious, political, arts, or culture. (However, hobby groups are not excluded and may apply.  Individuals may apply outside and independently of their affiliated organizations).

    • Inclusive of everyone within the target group of the event—example, residents living on a particular street or a block, or of a building or on one floor of a building.  Or the residents could be all new mothers in a particular area, new residents to Weston, a meet-up group of walkers, gardeners, pet parents, etc.

    • The money can be used to cover expenses related to an event: supplies and materials, transportation, advertising, food and refreshments, and honorariums paid to skilled participants who are required to teach, guiding or organize.  Or payment for speakers or entertainers.

    • Permits and Insurance: If your event requires either, these must be secured prior to applying for a grant.  We might be able to help; ask us.

  • Grant Amounts and Usage:

    • Grants will range between $50 - $300.

    • The total amount spent on grants is limited; not all grants will be funded.

    • Request that grant recipients return surplus (left-over) grant money so it may be re-granted.
